After his girlfriend is destroyed by a souped-up lawn mower, Jeffrey Franken devises a plan to rebuild her using the parts of dead hookers who have exploded after smoking highly effective crack rocks. But when something looks like a hooker, is made up of hooker, it wants to keep on hooking.

I loved this film and I think it may be Frank Henenlotter’s masterpiece (though most would give that to “Basket Case”). The humor was really there, the acting was fun and the body parts were incredibly fake but, for some reason, it worked! Many people compare this to “Bride of Frankenstein” (and for obvious reasons) but I think it’s somewhere between Peter Jackson’s “Dead Alive” and Stuart Gordon’s “Re-Animator” (the gore and lawn mower of the former, the plot of the latter).

Some parts really stand out. When Jeffrey’s girlfriend has passed on and he is sulking in his room, he tells his mother, “Medical schools upset me, mother — I’m anti-social — I’m becoming dangerously amoral.” He continues on for a while, basically saying what a police officer would say about him before they have the chance. Her response is, “Would you like a sammich?” Great line.
