Dracula S01 Movie full Review

Good start. Then it’s down the drain. The plot is chaotic. Too many shocks in too short a time. No momentum. Then it becomes absurd and 100% Woke, as so often in series of today’s time: Van Helsing is a super smart feminist nun, there is a mixed race gay couple, the doctor is Indian and the daughter is deaf and dumb. All straight men are idiots or monsters ska toxicmales. Exciting in itself, but not in 1896, because there was no such thing back then. End of the second episode ruins all for good. I didn’t expect anything else from the BBC.

First off if you are looking for a traditional version of Dracula then don’t watch this one. I thought this was well written and the lead characters were exceptional Claus Bang in particular was great as the main character. All round a great show there are reviews on here scoring 1/10 don’t let them put you off judge for yourself it might not be everybody’s cup of tea but it made good viewing and was well worth it.

It had to happen eventually. Moffat, who started writing sitcoms and eventually became Britain’s modern equivalent of Shakespeare, finally confused even his most diehard fans. If you can go into this miniseries with no expectations whatsoever, and overcome the shocking letdown after episode 1 (which is nothing less than brilliant on every level) then you end up with a bittersweet love story dominated by brilliant and unforgettable performances from Bang and Wells.
