BEEF Season 1 full Review

The show was amazing, with incredible wit, dark themes, loveable characters, deep philosophy imbedded within genuinely laugh out loud moments. It’s one of those shows that stands entirely on its own merit, that only comes around once every 10 years or so.

All the actors did amazing jobs and had me rooting for them one minute, despising them the next, then redeeming themselves again. What a rollercoaster of pure storytelling excitement. Every episode was great and consistently funny. The writers of this show had me having to look them up to see what else they had done.

I’m so impressed by this show and how intelligent and human everything was presented. I’m just blown away. I can’t understand how anyone could not love this.

Watching two people who are bonded by deep depression was oddly beautiful. I won’t give anything away but it’s definitely worth watching to see how everything plays out. The trailer really didn’t give much so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It may not be for everyone but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s crazy to imagine that road rage could have such a significant effect on peoples lives!

This is a nice idea, but to be clear, the hype is critics wanting to hand out support to diverse talent and Steven and Ali are easy targets. This probably would work better paired down to a feature but even still it’s not a big stand out. Ali Wong’s performance is particularly both a bit over the top and light weight at the same time compared to Steven. The rest of the cast gives OK performances, but with a somewhat week script and less than stellar performances, it’s hard to even enjoy the characters beyond the BEEF. When added all together it’s an interesting story with basic writing but easily forgettable.
